Complex rules on the map

Complex rules are any rules based on criteria other than Geographies or Customer accounts. This means that they are rules based on hierarchy data added specifically by your own organization. For example, maybe you define territories based on product. You may have added a hierarchy called Products that contains data about all the products your organization sells.

A territory rule based solely on product (Product = Tablet) isn't something we can visualize on the map, but if we layer this rule with your geography-based rules (Geographies = New York AND Product = Tablet) then this becomes mappable. You can view these types of rules by changing your visualization settings to show complex rules.

Note

You may not be able to perform some actions on the map when complex rules are on.

It's possible with these types of complex rules that you will have territories that take up the same space. For example, you might have a New York territory that sells tablets and another that sells phones. In this case, your territories would appear as overlapping on the map. If you select one of these territories from the territory grid, we'll isolate it so that you only see geographic regions and accounts for the selected territory.
