Viewing territories by rule type on the map

On the map, you can now identify territories by the specific rule type that they are defined by.

  1. On the Planning cycles home page, click the planning cycle to open.

  2. Click the Territory view.

  3. On the battle card canvas, select a battle card.

  4. In the data tray, click the Territory definition tab.

  5. Switch the toggle from View grid to View map to open the map view.

    Depending on which map you opened in your previous session, you'll be taken to either the Geographies map or the Customer accounts map.

  6. To visualize the map of your choice, click on the Screenshot_2025-04-09_at_10_54_03_PM.png icon beside the current map, which, depending on which map was last opened, will either be the Geographies map or the Customer accounts map.

  7. Your selection determines the subsequent options you'll see.

    If you select Geographies:

    1. You'll next select the rule type you want to visualize:

      Geography-based rules only - this will show territories with rules based on the Geographies hierarchy and any account override rules (this is the default view).

      Complex rules - this will show territories with rules based on the Geographies hierarchy and any account overrides, as well as any rules based on custom hierarchies. In this view, you can also isolate a single territory to see only geographic regions and accounts for that territory.

      Note

      You may not be able to perform some actions when this option is selected.

    If you select Customer Accounts:

    1. You'll next select the rule type you want to visualize:

      Account-based rules only - this populates accounts where the rules are defined by account assignments only.

      Complex rules - this populates accounts where the rules are defined by account assignments and also specific hierarchies.

    2. Then, under Show accounts based on choose a hierarchy to to populate your accounts on the map.

      Account hierarchy - populates all accounts uploaded to your customer accounts hierarchy files

      Sales activity - populates only accounts that have sales activity

    Note

    There is a limit of up to 80,000 account pins that can be visualized on the Customer accounts map.

  8. Click View map.

Isolate a territory to view its pinned accounts
  1. At the top of the territory grid, click the Screenshot_2024-09-02_at_1_10_17_PM.png icon beside Geographies map.

  2. On the Rule visualization dialogue, select Geography AND [hierarchy] OR account overrides .

  3. Select a Hierarchy from the dropdown. This will allow you to see those territories that rules based on a custom hierarchy.

  4. Click Visualize.

  5. On the map page, select a territory from the territory grid to isolate it. This shows account pins and geographic regions for the selected territory only.
