Filtering complex rules by custom hierarchy

You can now filter your complex rules on the map to only show territory rules that meet your filtering criteria. If you set up your territory rule by geography and another business-specific hierarchy (like product), you likely have a lot of overlapping territories on the map. For example, you may have a New York territory selling tablets and another selling phones. These territories take up the same space on the map, but sell different products. To better visualize these rules on the map, you could filter to only show rules that include tablets. This would remove the overlap and let you focus on that specific area of your business.

  1. On the Planning cycles home page, click the planning cycle to open.

  2. Click the Territory view.

  3. On the battle card canvas, select a battle card.

  4. In the data tray, click the Territory definition tab.

  5. Switch the toggle from View grid to View map to open the map view.

  6. Click the Screenshot_2024-09-02_at_1_10_17_PM.png icon beside Geographies map on the territory grid.

  7. On the Rule visualization page, select Geography AND [hierarchy] OR account overrides and then select a hierarchy.

    Note

If your rules are defined by more than one custom hierarchy (for example rules based on Geographies and Industry and also rules based on Geographies and Product), you can choose which hierarchy you want to see by selecting it from the the hierarchy drop-down. The map displays only a single non-standard hierarchy for visualization purposes.

    Tip

You can only view territories having up to one non-custom hierarchy on the map. Territories with rules defined, for example, by geographies and also product and brand) cannot be visualized on the map.

  8. Click Visualize.

  9. Click the expand maximize.svg icon on the hierarchy filter.

  10. Select hierarchy members to filter by, and select the operator to use:

    • Contains any - shows all rules that contain the selected hierarchy members

    • Does not contain - excludes rules that contain any of the selected hierarchy members

    • Is equal to - shows rules that include all of the selected hierarchy members

    • Is not equal to - excludes rules that include all of the selected hierarchy members

    Tip

Select a territory to isolate it on the map. This shows only geographic regions and accounts for the selected territory.
