Filtering complex rules by custom hierarchy

You can filter your complex rules on the Geographies map and Customer accounts map to only show territory rules that meet your filtering criteria. If you set up your territory rule by geography and another business-specific hierarchy (like product), you likely have a lot of overlapping territories on the map. For example, you may have a New York territory selling tablets and another selling phones. These territories take up the same space on the map, but sell different products. To better visualize these rules on the map, you could filter to only show rules that include tablets. This would remove the overlap and let you focus on that specific area of your business.

To filter your map view by complex rules:

  1. On the Planning cycles home page, click the planning cycle to open.

  2. Click the Territory view.

  3. On the battle card canvas, select a battle card.

  4. In the data tray, click the Territory definition tab.

  5. Switch the toggle from View grid to View map to open the map view.

  6. To visualize the map of your choice, click on the Screenshot_2025-04-09_at_10_54_03_PM.png icon beside the current map, which, depending on which map was last opened, will either be the Geographies map or the Customer accounts map.

  7. On the Rule visualization page, your territory group type selection determines subsequent options.

    If you select Geographies:

    1. Choose Complex rules. This will show territories with rules based on the Geographies hierarchy and any account overrides, as well as any rules based on custom hierarchies. In this view, you can also isolate a single territory to see only geographic regions and accounts for that territory.

    If you select Customer Accounts:

    1. Choose Complex rules. This populates accounts where the rules are defined by account assignments and also specific hierarchies.

    2. Then, under Show accounts based on choose a hierarchy to populate your accounts on the map.

  8. Click View map.

  9. Click Hierachies to open up the filter menu.

  10. Select hierarchy members to filter by, and select the operator to use:

    • Contains any - shows all rules that contain the selected hierarchy members

    • Does not contain - excludes rules that contain any of the selected hierarchy members

    • Is equal to - shows rules that include all of the selected hierarchy members

    • Is not equal to - excludes rules that include all of the selected hierarchy members

    • None -

    • Match any condition -

    Tip

Select a territory to isolate it on the map. This shows only geographic regions and accounts for the selected territory.

  11. Click Apply.
